i am in love

a gift from my super sweet husband... a brand new sewing machine that he actually went out and shopped for with absolutely no help or input from me!

he was very unsure about his purchase and offered to take me out shopping to choose another machine, he just wanted me to have something to open on christmas morning. this was actually a machine i had heard great things about- it is a kenmore which is manufactured by janome (LOVE janome machines) and sells for about $100 less than i would pay for it's janome counterpart. i spent a considerable amount of time thinking it over and researching this machine online, as well as a computerized kenmore that was just a bit more money. after reading wonderful things and doing a little test drive i decided to keep this machine.

yesterday i broke out one of my very favorite owl prints and stitched up a coloring wallet for a friend's birthday party next week.

yes, i am head over heels in love... and i am also pretty fond of my new machine! you did good sweetie!

AWESOME!!! Now what to name your new baby??? Something girly perhaps? (I mean the sewing machine, not the belly bean. ;) )

I'm convinced men have a self-preservation gene. Just before you get to the point where you're planning their untimely demise, they give you something thoughtful and generous that makes up for everything. Kind of like kids & cuteness.

Glad you like your new machine. A good one makes such a big difference in the results. Now we'll all be even more jealous of your sewn goodies!

Wow what an awesome gift!!

A few years back the *exact* same thing happened to me too! Seriously :) Gordy picked out a Kenmore sewing machine and it was waiting under the tree for Christmas.

You're going to love it!

(your sewing skills are fantastic!)

Hope you are enjoying your holidays! I'm looking forward to spending more time here in 2010. :)

Oh, wow! What a sweet husband. I bought my first machine last year and it felt like Christmas when I opened it. :)

So should her name be strong or cute and perky? Hmmm... Vera is a good one... strong. Or Pixie? That is a cute and new perky name. What do you think?

Mine is 'good ol Betsy'. She cost a million (well more like a $1500) but she has held up through having my own shop, sewing most of my kids clothes when they were little and through more paper than I can count... and she is still kicking... so I like Betsy. :)

One more thing... while you still know where the manuel is read on how to clean it! That has saved me HUNDREDS of dollars... seriously... in service fees over the last 7 years I have had Betsy. I know how to clean her and put her all back together myself. Honestly, hundreds.

Love Val

i think she's a stella :)

i was pretty crazy about keeping my little janome clean- mainly because it always seemed i was sewing something super linty (felted wool sweaters!) i can foresee myself being even more so with my pretty, new machine! :D
