Nestle' Boycott
we are nestle' boycotters, as difficult as it is to boycott a company so large, but we try. i decided to post the article below to explain our reasons in doing so. we are breastfeeding advocates, but above all we are advocates for the people targeted by this massive company's unethical practices.
so, if you feel inspired please join us in our efforts and boycott nestle'... or as my witty son calls them, nasty!

Nestle promotes artificial infant feeding around the world, breaking a World Health Organization (WHO) code of marketing. Nestle makes a profit while others count the cost.
* WHO and the United Nations Children's Fund say that reversing the decline in breastfeeding could SAVE 1.5 MILLION LIVES EVERY YEAR. Millions more infants become seriously ill because they are not breastfed. * Where supplies of water are unsafe and conditions unsterile, a bottle-fed baby is up to 25 times more likely to die as a result of diarrhea. Expensive formula (often costing more than half the entire family income) impoverishes people who are already poor. Milk is often watered down to make it go further, thus adding the extra risk of malnutrition. * A breastfed child is less likely to suffer from gastroenteritis, respiratory and ear infections, diabetes, pneumonia, polio, allergies and other illnesses. Bottle baby disease is the name given to the deadly combination of diarrhea, dehydration and malnutrition, which is the result of unsafe bottle-feeding. * Breastfeeding is the best start in life for a child - but Nestlé's baby food marketing puts profits before health. * Baby Milk Action coordinates the 18 country international Nestle boycott, focusing on Nestle because it controls about 40% of the world market in baby milks and uses its influence to undermine controls on marketing activities. Monitoring shows Nestle to be the largest single source of violations worldwide. The Boycott is supported in the UK by over 100 church, health and consumer groups, over 90 businesses 80 student unions, 17 local authorities, 12 trade unions, 74 politicians and political parties and many celebrities. * Nestle has been warned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) not to repeat claims made in the 1996 anti-boycott advertisement.
Nestle takes notice of sales figures - by boycotting Nestle, you can help stop these unnecessary deaths.
What you can do
1. Don't buy any Nestle products. If the company you work for provides Nestle products in Vending machines or in the staff canteen, make sure whoever is responsible is aware - see further down this message for a list of Nestle brands, print it out and take it shopping with you.
2. Email this message in your own words:

Notes: 1. UNICEF reviews contaminants: The possibility of breastmilk contamination has recently been portrayed in alarmist headlines by the media. A UNICEF paper 'Breastfeeding and Environmental Contamination' reviews the evidence. The superiority of breastmilk, despite the presence of small quantities of chemicals is affirmed. One study cited estimates that 'about three days of life expectancy would be lost because of cancer attributable to contaminant exposure through breastmilk. In contrast the decrease life expectancy from not breastfeeding was about 70 days'

Exclusive breastfeeding recommended for 'around 6 months': This is one of the conclusions of a WHO. report reviewing existing scientific knowledge about complimentary feeding in developing countries. 3. The International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk substitutes was adopted by the World Health Assembly in 1981. changes in the air!
The big kids are getting ready to go back to school Monday. They are sad and excited and nervous all at the same time! When they are in school we are going to start pre-k homeschooling with Esme'. So while we were at the store buying supplies for Riley and Niko she got a few supplies of her own which she loved! Gosh, it just blows me away that she will be ready to go off to school next year! Where did the time go??
Another change around here is Fall is in the air! It is getting darker earlier, cooler in the evenings, and all my favorite TV shows are advertising their new seasons (okay, I have like 2 favorite shows, but it still so exciting!). Autumn is my very favorite season! So to get ready for the weather I have picked up my Baby Wearer Poncho once again. My goal is to have this done by the end of September, which seemed
so far away, but is now right around the corner. So here is my progress~ that big hole is the kangaroo pounch for baby to peek out of!
I also knitted this little set for a trade I did with Jessi from BratSacks Babywear. I got Harper an adorable little backpack with a lion on it... I figure it is never too early to make them carry their own stuff!
The wool wasn't quite as thick as I would have liked ( I should have doubled it up) so I lined the hat with some super soft fleece. This is the Giving Pixie pattern from Little Turtle Knits. Very cute... Harper is going to need one of these too!
And, last but not least, I knitted these cute little pants for Harper. They were originally going to be stocked for our congo's grand opening but I wasn't 100% happy with the gusset. And they happen to fit Harper perfectly so we kept them! They are actually a tiny bit long so they will fit all Winter... fingers crossed!
As you can see he was thrilled to have his picture taken in them! It was bedtime~ he was cranky! Hey, we're not called the Mom and Pop-razzi for nothin'!

harvest time!!
here is a sneak peek at some of the goodies i stocked for Majestic's grand opening tomorrow morning! hand dyed yarn, a wool fruit and veggies play set, and the premier of my recycled sweater Sleepy Baby Soakers! i also have some peppermint pail dust and diaper balm listed. we will have free for shipping lotteries throughout the day! come check us out!

Blogging Mommy's worst nightmare...
Well, we made it home from our trip to Montana safe and sound and reletively sane... Riley and Niko spent an extra 10 days there with Grandma and Grandpa and just got home today. The day after we arrived home I excitedly went to post some vacation photos for friends to view and discovered that my memory card from my camera is unreadable!!! No pictures to be found! Not good news for a blogging mommy like myself. I am so, so sad about this but still have a glimmer of hope that I can take it to someone ( a professional of some sort) and my family pics can somehow be retrieved. Fingers crossed!
This lovely fluffy mail arrived for Harper while we were gone from my good friend Joy from Bundles of Joy!
She uses all recycled materials when making her diapers and wool covers. So these wool covers are made from felted wool sweaters and the tie dye diaper is a tee shirt and the other two are from a retro towel I picked up at an estate sale and gave to her so she could sew groovy cloth diapers!
Esme' painted some new pictures for Harper's Gallery~ she tapes them to the fireplace for him to look at!
Of course being an artist is a very messy job but she enjoys every second of it! These were not finger paints by the way!

ROAD TRIP!
Our family, as crazy as we are, are going on a little road trip! We will be driving from Boise to Montana, with a couple stops in between. This will be Harper's first big trip and we are a little apprehensive since he barely likes to ride to the grocery store. I am planning on sitting in back with him hoping this will make him happy. We'll see.
So we will leave Wednesday morning and drive to Riggins, about 4 hours away (5-6 hours if you are traveling with 4 little kids!). We are staying in our favorite lodge and probably won't be going out much as the temps there have been around 110 degrees!! YUCK! The kids will be able to swim and they love to hang out downstairs by the fireplace and play board games and do puzzles. Oh, and their favorite, fresh baked cookies and milk in the evening. This, and this alone, is enough to make this their favorite place to stay! Then Thursday we will drive to Polson, Montana where we will be staying with Tony's parents. We are staying until the following Wednesday, then it's on the road again for us. Riley and Niko will be staying an additional week, so we will only have half the kids on the way home. This may make it easier, or harder, and unfortunately we do not have priviledge of knowing which beforehand.
Niko and I are getting our hair cut tomorrow so check back for some before and after pics :)

I have been spending most of my time in the air conditioned house holding the baby and knitting. With a little house work thrown in (very little!) I finished these sweet shorts for Harper this week. He had outgrown nearly all his diaper covers. He grows in his sleep each and every night!

Look at all the progress I have made on my BabyWearer poncho. I love the colors. Let's see... I can't wait to finish it so I can wear it and I can't wait for the weather to be cool enough so I can wear it!
And, I entered World Breastfeeding Week photo contest at Musings of a Crunchy, Domestic Goddess blog. This is the picture I submitted. Everytime Harper nurses he stares into my eyes, occasionally smiling up at me until he falls asleep. I also love this picture because it shows his sweet rolls of baby chub... courtesy of mama's milk of course!

Busy Needles...
It's been awhile since I have had any wooly fun to post... I guess it has something to do with a new Baby occupying most of my time lately! And I can assure you I wouldn't have it any other way! Despite spending most of my days cuddling and loving on this sweet little boy of mine, I have accomplished a few projects~
These are a pair of little shorts I knitted for a swap. They were for a little baby girl who is just a couple weeks older than Harper. It was fun knitting for a baby girl! But, back to the boy knits for me!
And here are our Magic Yarn Balls for another swap that Esme', Niko and I participated in. From left to right are my yarn ball, Niko's and little Esme's. This was Esme's very first swap and she is completely sucked in. She had as much fun putting this together for her swap partner as she did unwinding her own and discovering her loot!
And here is the yarny goodness we received in exchange. From left to right: my MYB from my friend Jessica in her Jade Monkey colorway and a skein of beautiful gold trim to go with it (I am planning to knit Harper some longies with this special yarn!), Niko's yarn in a pink and brown (her favorite color combination at the moment) from Jessica's daughter Kaitlyn, and Esme's very special yarn from her friend Rebekah. The colorway is "Beka's Berries". My loot isn't in the picture but I got 2 kinds of coffee, some vanilla syrup, some dark chocolate, and some yummy mint lip balm. I am enjoying some chocolate velvet coffee right this second and I had, um, chocolate for breakfast... 
A box containing this wonderful wool arrived on my doorstep last week. It is for The Babywearing Poncho seen here. The photo does this yarn no justice. It is absolutely gorgeous. I will post updates on the progress of my poncho. My goal is to have it finished, washed and blocked by September!
And on my needles right now are a pair of shorts for Harper since he has outgrown practically every piece of wool he has. This is Malabrigo in the Curacao colorway.
